Join us for a glimpse of the life-saving and life-changing work happening at the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky while the facility is closed to the public to prepare for a new class of summer clients. Find out what "homeless" means, how big an issue it is across Northern Kentucky and what you can do to help. You’ll be served a shelter meal, sit down on a shelter bed and see what a shelter client sees when they arrive seeking rest, refuge and a restart.
Last summer, ESNKY helped 94 men graduate into stable housing and allowed for more than 1,700 showers to be taken and 7,500 pieces of clothing to be laundered through the summer shower/laundry outreach program. It is the only cold weather emergency shelter that takes those actively addicted, accepts a direct referral from hospitals, jails and police and the only handicap-accessible shelter in the eight counties that make up Northern Kentucky. Last winter 513 guests sought shelter and they have already surpassed that number with still four weeks left.
While the event is free, you are encouraged to bring a donation. Suggested items include men’s underwear, socks, hygiene items (razors and deodorant), Kroger gift cards or cash.
