This week Dorman Products held its third Continuous Improvement Basic Course at its headquarters in Colmar, PA. The class has been accredited by the Lean Competency System as adhering to global standard lean qualifications developed at Cardiff University. Twenty-one contributors from across the various Dorman departments and business units went through the three-day course to learn the Lean methodology, tools, and techniques. The team was able to apply what they learned in real-time to improve three processes: McLaren Lego manufacturing process, tax preparation service, and a beer distribution supply chain. Upon completion of the class, the contributors were awarded the Lean Competency System (LCS) Level 1a certification from Dorman, LCS, and Cardiff University. This past month, five of our contributors attended the Women in Auto Care Leadership Conference to grow their personal and professional skills. The team was able to connect with peers, customers, and various industry leaders while learning about topics like DISC assessments, industry trends/shifts, and listening to a long list of incredible presenters. The event hosted 286 attendees and raised over $84k for the Women in Auto Care scholarship fund. We look forward to our contributors bringing back the knowledge they gained and sharing it with the rest of our organization.
