Active shooter incidents are often unpredictable. How individuals respond to quickly escalating chaos can play an integral role in mitigating the impact of an intense situation. Mass shootings are defined as an incident in which four or more individuals, not counting the shooter, are injured or killed.

The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (NKY Chamber), in partnership with Thomas More University (TMU), will offer an Active Shooter Training on Friday, July 22, at TMU’s Steigerwald Hall (333 Thomas More Parkway, Crestview Hills, KY 41017).

The presentation will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will be led by retired Police Lieutenant Chris Carpenter. Carpenter was also a team leader for Kenton County Regional SWAT. He is currently Chief Security Specialist for Livingstone Security Solutions, LLC, and Director of Training & Operations for the counter-human trafficking nonprofit The Gray Samaritan.

As part of the facilitated presentation, participants will walk through a variety of scenarios and participate in role-play simulations. They will also receive Stop The Bleed® training, which will guide through three methods of bleeding control.

Advance registration for the training is required, and capacity is limited. Waivers will be sent via email in advance of the session.
