The Honorable Mitch McConnell, United States Senate Majority Leader, will headline the NKY Chamber Government Forum webinar series presented by Fidelity Investments and Duke Energy on Wednesday, April 29 from 1:00pm to 2:00 p.m. This event will be an audio only event for Members Only.

This is an exclusive opportunity for NKY Chamber members only to hear directly from our senior U.S. Senator on how Congress is working to provide emergency federal relief to small businesses across the Commonwealth during this global pandemic.

The second half of our Government Forum will be led by Dr. Dora Savani, St. Elizabeth Healthcare Infectious Disease Medical Director. Dr. Savani will provide our members on St. Elizabeth’s role in combatting the pandemic and a projection for the course of the illness.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

Senator McConnell has served as the Republican Leader since the 110th Congress. He is the longest-serving Senate Republican Leader in the history of the United States. McConnell previously served in leadership as the Majority Whip in the 108th and 109th Congresses and as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee during the 1998 and 2000 election cycles. First elected to the Senate in 1984, McConnell is Kentucky’s longest-serving senator and currently serves as a senior member of the Appropriations, Agriculture and Rules Committees.

Senator McConnell introduced and led the bipartisan Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to passage last month with a 96 to 0 vote, which is the biggest rescue package in history and was signed into law by President Donald Trump. As a result of the CARES Act, Kentucky will receive at least $1.7 billion in emergency relief.

In addition to these federal funds for state and local government response, Kentucky communities, organizations, workers, families, small businesses, and health care providers have so far received more than $1 billion to address urgent housing, transportation, healthcare, education and economic development priorities from Senator McConnell’s CARES Act.
