The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce will host the “Where We Stand” 2024 legislative preview on December 5, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Boone County Distilling Company, located at 10601 Toebben Drive Florence, KY, 41051.

The event will feature a panel comprised of members of the Northern Kentucky Caucus and Senate Leadership who will discuss the NKY Chamber’s policy agenda and goals as well as what they plan to work on during the upcoming 2024 legislative session.

This year's distinguished panelists include:

Senate President Robert Stivers

Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, represents the 25th Senate District, including Clay, Jackson, Knox, McCreary, Owsley, and Whitley Counties. As of January 1, 2023, Stivers will have served as Kentucky Senate president for nearly a decade and as the Senate President represents the entire body of the Kentucky State Senate. Stivers has been honored by Governing Magazine as a Public Official of the Year, named the Chair of the Southern Legislative Conference, and served as the Chair of the Council of State Governments, a national organization. He currently serves as Chair of the Senate President’s Forum. Stivers graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in industrial management and a minor in economics. He earned his law degree from The University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law and is a practicing attorney in Manchester.

Senator Chris McDaniel

Chris McDaniel R- was elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 2013 and represents the 23rd District, comprised of northern Kenton County. Sen. McDaniel attended The Citadel, graduating in 1997, and was commissioned an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 2001, he returned home to work in the family business, McD Concrete. While working as the Business Operations Manager during the day, Senator McDaniel attended Northern Kentucky University at night, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. With a keen eye for fiscal responsibility, Senator McDaniel has served as chairman of the Appropriations and Revenue Committee since 2015. Additionally, Senator McDaniel serves as a member of the Banking and Insurance Committee, the Capital Projects and Bond Oversight Committee, the Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations Committee, the Natural Resources and Energy Committee, and the State and Local Government Committee.

Representative Kim Banta

Representative Kim Banta serves Kentucky’s 63^rd House District, which includes portions of Boone and Kenton counties. Banta earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University at Bloomington and later obtained her doctorate in Education Leadership and Administration from the University of Louisville. She served in education as a teacher at Simon Kenton High School, as principal of Dixie Heights High School, and as both the Chief Academic Officer and Assistant Superintendent of the Kenton County School system from 1989 to 2019. Banta was elected in 2019 and quickly became recognized for her common-sense approach to public policy and advocacy for Kentucky students. She chairs the Budget Review Subcommittee on Primary and Secondary Education and Workforce Development. In addition, Banta serves as a legislative member on the Appropriations and Revenue, Families and Children, Licensing Occupations, and Administrative Regulations, and Judiciary committees.

Representative Mike Clines

Representative Mike Clines of Alexandria serves the 68^th House District, which is located entirely within Campbell County, in the Kentucky House of Representatives. Clines was elected in 2022. A former classroom teacher and administrator, Clines received his undergraduate degree in English and Teaching from Northern Kentucky University, and obtained his Masters in Education Administration from the University of Cincinnati. Clines is currently an education consultant in the Northern Kentucky Region, and served as a superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Covington school system for 12 years with a combined 28 years as an educator. A native of Campbell County, Clines is active participant in his community, Clines currently chairs the ACT Kentucky State Organization, and serves as an active board member for the Go Norse Fund and Xavier University’s School of Education Advisory Board. In Frankfort, Clines serves as a member of the House Agriculture; Licensing, Occupations, & Administrative Regulations; and Families and Children committees.

Representative Stephanie Dietz

Representative Stephanie A. Dietz is currently serving her first term as State Representative of the 65th House District after her election in 2022. The district includes portions of Covington, Edgewood, Ft. Wright, Park Hills and Crestview Hills all located entirely within Kenton County. Dietz received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky, and obtained her law degree from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. Representative Dietz currently practices law in her family law practice in Kenton County and has been recognized as one of Cincy Magazine’s Leading Lawyers since 2009, a Super Lawyer ranking, and was recently admitted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Dietz also serves as President of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association in 2023. A lifelong resident of Kentucky, Dietz is an active member of her community, including service in her home parish and as a volunteer in numerous organizations. In Frankfort, Dietz serves on Family and Children; Judiciary; and Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection committees.

Representative Steve Rawlings

Representative Steve Rawlings of Burlington was elected in 2022 and is currently serving his first term as representative for the 66th House District encompassing a portion of northern Boone County. Rawlings is married and a father of two, a Christian, businessman, author, and attorney, and serves on several boards outside of his work in Frankfort, including service as a member of the USA Olympic Shooting Team Board of Directors Judiciary Committee and the Merit Theatre Company, Board of Directors. Rawlings is also a member of the Kentucky History, Pro-Life, Kentucky Non-Profit, and the Kentucky-Israeli Cacuses. Representative Rawlings serves on the House Education, Judiciary, and State Government Standing Committees.
